Ultraviolet rays can eradicate flu virus

Ultraviolet rays can eradicate flu virus. Although the ultraviolet rays of the sun harm us, the low amount of ultraviolet rays can be used to kill the flu virus that is presented in the air without damaging the human tissue. These ultraviolet rays can be used to prevent the spread of infection at the hospitals, schools and other public places.
Scientists have been aware of the fact that the broad spectrum ultraviolet (UV) ray wavelength of 200 to 400 nanometers is very effective in destroying the bacteria and viruses. Traditional UV rays have also been used to disinfect surgical instruments.

In the University of Columbia-based Columbia University's Irving Medical Center, Professor David J. Brenner said, "Unfortunately, conventional disinfectant ultraviolet rays are dangerous for human health and it poses a threat to skin cancer and cataracts. Because of this, it is not used in public places. '

Researchers had previously imagined that microbial can be killed by the low amount of UVC and does not damage the human tissue. Brenner said that this light is not dangerous due to health. This research has been published in 'Scientific Reporters' Journal.
